"Cry for You", also known as "Weep for Yous (You'll Never Run into Me Again)" on Hard2Beat,[ane] is a vocal past Swedish singer Petra Marklund, performing equally September. The dance-pop runway spent three weeks at the top spot of Billboard's Hot Dance Airplay Nautical chart in May 2007.[2] In the United states, it is the second single from September'southward album September, succeeding "Satellites" (a number 8 striking on the Dance Airplay chart), while overseas it is her fifth unmarried release from her 2nd studio anthology In Orbit, following "Information technology Doesn't Matter". Composition and release [edit]
Earlier the worldwide release in 2007, September had originally recorded the song for her studio album In Orbit (2005). Nonetheless, in many compilations September has released, the song has appeared on her compilations including September, Dancing in Orbit, Gold and Cry for You - The Anthology. Co-ordinate to September, she explained the reason why she wanted to release it worldwide, by saying "The song was so potent past itself. And I've been in that location and it feels like the fans are starved of trip the light fantastic music. Critical reception [edit]
"Cry for Y'all" received positive reviews from music critics. Nick Levine from Digital Spy awarded the song with iv stars out of five, giving information technology a positive review. He stated "[...] it's a surprisingly affecting Eurodance number, a tape that'southward both relentlessly danceable and desperately sad" and said its "actually a pretty decent tape."[ten] Yet, he felt the song was non "original" plenty to outbet releases by fellow Swedish singer Robyn. Popjustice said the song is a "massive balls-out social club anthem and we think it works rather well."[eleven] Ben Norman from Almost.com called the song the "Best Trip the light fantastic Crossover Track", while saying "Robbins [Entertainment] has since made peace with me by backing and promoting Swedish vocaliser September and this Europop confection. Practiced job guys!."[12]
AllMusic had rated the song iii-and-a-one-half-stars out of five stars.[13] K. Ross Hoffman, also from AllMusic, had highlighted the song as an album standout, and said "'Weep [for You lot]' is the obvious standout, managing to conjure both sophistication and a surprising degree of emotion from its fairly pedestrian frothy electro-pop arrangement and polished simply powerful vocal turn."[14] Nevertheless, he also added "'Weep for You' is a strong enough track (though adequately faceless too, in its way) [...]." PopBytes.com gave it a positive review, maxim it'southward "full pop dance fluff but highly enjoyable."[fifteen]
Chart functioning [edit]

In New Zealand airplay and official charts, the song debuted at number thirty-nine on the event date of 22 September 2008.
"Cry for You lot" was certified gilt for shipment of over 500,000 copies past the Recording Industry Association of America in 2010. The song is the first past a Swedish creative person to be certified past the RIAA since Ace of Base of operations'south Cruel Summertime in 1998. The song was listed at number 5 on the Summit 100 Club Nautical chart Yr-Finish consequence.[16]
Music video [edit]
Two music videos were released for the single. The international version is set at the edge of a futuristic urban center inside a big solitary edifice which could be a prison, barracks or factory. Inside are hundreds of clones dressed in black latex catsuits who are marching in unison, watched over by women wearing white. Internet meme [edit]
Beginning in late 2018, "Cry for You" received renewed involvement when it appeared in a popular meme format on Twitter. The meme juxtaposes a portion of the vocal'due south chorus, in which Marklund sings "you'll never see me once more", with captions that accredit the statement to entities such as socks that become missing later doing laundry, "Tumblr users subsequently Dec 17th" (in reference to the site'southward ban on pornography), or "Lady Gaga to pop music afterward the gays [let] ArtPop flop".[iii]
